Our Tech Staff

Our technical team of Stage Manager, Lighting Designer and Sound Engineer works closely to turn each Wisconsin Singers show into a seamless performance.

  • Work in some of the nicest theaters across the Midwest. And, don't forget the spring break tour to Florida, compliments of the Wisconsin Singers!

Sound Engineer

  • Work with a state of the art digital sound and monitoring system
  • Get experience in recording and editing audio as well as video
  • New venue each show allows experience in different acoustical environments
  • Experience with live amplified sound required
  • Willing to rise to the challenge of working with a fast-paced Broadway style revue
  • Patient temperament and calm demeanor to problem solve on the fly

Stage Manager

  • Stage management with the Singers is a much broader experience than in most theatrical crews
  • Manage setup of equipment and staging, coordinate guest artist appearances
  • Work with a dedicated tech team to prepare the show for the touring season
  • Fast-paced nature requires the SM to think quickly and deal with any situation that may arise, including amplified sound and safety issues

Requirements

  • Stage management experience is a definite plus but not absolutely necessary
  • Looking for strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to different theater settings
  • Must enjoy working in a team and like to create/build/fix things!

 

Lighting Designer

  • Work with tech team on various aspects of production
  • Design a lighting plot for a "rock concert / Broadway revue" feel
  • Adapt the lighting design to a variety of venues
  • On site hang, focus and light board programming
  • Run light board cues and call follow spot

Requirements

  • Prior experience with lighting board system(s)
  • Worked with a range of lighting instruments
  • Hanging, focus, programming experience

One of my passions in high school was theatre, but as an incoming freshman engineering student I knew that my chances to be involved in theatre at the University level were slim. Singers offered me that chance even though it wasn’t my major, and broadened my experience in a way I never thought possible.

Sneak Peek at our year together

May: Interviews for following season. Call 608.440.0390
Mid July: weekend of rehearsal, costume fittings, bonding
Last two weeks in August: production camp where you work with professionals in the field to mount the new show
Fall Semester: Sunday rehearsals through early November. On Campus shows at the Overture Center.
Spring Semester: Perform in different communities throughout the Midwest (Spring Break tour is on us!)
Training and travel expenses are covered by the Singers
